Description
Plastron Wall Primer Sealer holds back alkali and moisture in new plaster, making it an essential first step for walls in Karachi and Sindh's humid, coastal climate. New plaster in this region stays damp for longer due to high ambient humidity, salt-laden sea air, and seasonal monsoon rain, which allows alkali salts and moisture to rise to the surface and damage the paint film above it if left unsealed.
Plastron acts as a barrier coat, locking in this moisture and preventing efflorescence, blistering, or peeling once the final coat of paint is applied. It is ready for use straight from the tin; however, if required, mineral turpentine may be mixed with it but should not exceed 1 litre (1000 c.c.) per 4 litres, allowing for adjustment based on surface porosity and site conditions. Pair your primer with Off White (S141) Silk Emulsion for a fresh finish, or with any Berger exterior or interior topcoat suited to your surface.
Application
Apply two coats on plaster or rough cement render under 3 months old, when the surface is at its most vulnerable to moisture and alkali migration. Apply the second coat without thinning to build a stronger, more even seal. In Karachi's climate, it's advisable to apply Plastron once the plaster has had adequate time to dry, since sealing over surfaces that are still damp from monsoon exposure can trap moisture beneath the film.

Plastron Wall Primer Sealer covers 10 to 12 meter square per litre per coat, depending on the porosity of the surface — rougher or more porous cement render, common in older Karachi construction, will sit toward the lower end of this range.
