Description

Apexior No. 1 is an anti-corrosive coating for internal surfaces of boiler drums, tubes, water walls, economisers, steam accumulators, etc. Use Apexior No. 1 can be used on boiler drums, tubes, water walls, economisers, evaporators, steam accumulators, calorifiers, steam turbine casings, and water softeners in contact with hot water above 93˚C (200˚F) minimum. Surface All loose mill scale and rust should be removed. Where possible, grit blast to 2nd Quality BS 4232. Recommended maximum profile should be 0.75 µm. If blast cleaning is not practical, make full use of mechanical tools, along with hand wire-brushing to remove loose rust and scale back to a firm edge. Excessive burnishing of steel should be avoided. Remove other contaminants, oil, grease, etc., by use of a solvent. The surface must be clean and dry prior to coating. Application No separate primer is necessary. One coat of Apexior No. 1 should be applied with brush directly to clean steel. Work well into the surface and ensure all corners, edges, welded nuts/bolts are covered. Allow approximately 6 to 8 hours at 20˚C before overcoating. Apply further 2 coats of Apexior No. 1 with brush or roller, allowing 6 to 8 hours between coats. After applying the last coat, allow 12 to 16 hours for drying to permit solvent evaporation from the system. At this point, the coating will be dry but not cured or water-resistant. It is essential for coating performance that tank or boiler should be filled with water, and water temperature raised to above 100˚C (212˚F) for a minimum 5 hours period. This has the effect of baking the Apexior, thus producing an inert, insoluble and impermeable film. Drying Time Allow 6 to 8 hours between coats for drying. The last coat should be allowed to dry for 12 to 16 hours to let solvent evaporate from the system. Water temperature should be raised above 100˚C for 5 hours minimum for full curing of paint film. Coverage Apexior No. 1 covers approximately 8 to 10 meter square per litre at 38 microns DFT depending on surface roughness. Packaging Apexior No. 1 is available in 5 litre packs.
